Jinhou Bird Zun

Jinhou Bird Zun

Bronze ware from the Western Zhou Dynasty
39 cm high, 30.5 cm long, 17.5 cm wide. Excavated from Tomb No. 114 of the Jinhou Cemetery in Beizhao Village, Quwo County in 2000. Wine vessel. Excavated from the tomb of Xiefu, the first generation of Jinhou. The overall shape is a phoenix standing and looking back, with the phoenix tail bent down to form an elephant head, forming a three-point support with the legs. The lid and the bottom of the belly are cast with inscriptions, "Jinhou made a treasured Zunyi for the Taishi", indicating that the vessel was a ritual vessel for sacrifice in the ancestral temple of Jinhou.
