The Western Zhou Dynasty elephant-headed beast-faced bronze jar is now in the Sichuan Provincial Museum. It has a generous shape and exquisite casting. It has extremely high historical and artistic value and is the treasure of the Sichuan Provincial Museum.

The elephant-headed ear jar is also called the "elephant-headed ear beast-faced bronze jar". The bronze jar is a large container for ancient people to hold wine or water. It is one of the important ritual vessels used by ancient people in sacrificial activities such as praying to God for good weather and good harvests, praying for victory in wars, or worshiping ancestors from the late Shang Dynasty to the middle of the Spring and Autumn Period.

The Western Zhou Dynasty elephant-headed ear beast-faced bronze jar is 69.4 cm high and 21.8 cm in diameter. It was unearthed in Zhuzhuang, Pengxian County, Sichuan in 1980. It has a generous shape and exquisite casting. It has extremely high historical and artistic value.

The shoulder and abdomen of the bronze jar are decorated with two three-dimensional long-nosed elephant head ears (ears, i.e. handles), and a three-dimensional elephant head is cast between the two ears and under one side of the abdomen. From the neck to the ring foot, the body of the vessel is divided into four equal parts by four towering door edges, and four groups of identical decorations are cast in between. Each group of decorations is divided into three sections: upper, middle and lower: in the middle of the shoulder is a coiled dragon, with Kui patterns (Kui is a deformed small dragon) between the two sides; on the abdomen is a Kui dragon with thick eyebrows and big eyes, open mouth and curled body, one foot and four toes; under the abdomen is decorated with a circle of cattle patterns. All three sections are decorated with cloud and thunder patterns. The top of the lid is decorated with four bird-shaped door edges corresponding to the body of the vessel, and between the door edges is a curled Kui dragon, with the door edge as the nose and cloud and thunder patterns as the ground. The shape and decoration of this bronze jar, with relief and round carving techniques to highlight the main pattern and some special parts of the decorative objects, symmetrically arranged, forming a magnificent and elaborate pattern, which is quite distinctive. The whole bronze jar is emerald green and crystal, like the luster of ancient jade, and is a rare boutique among bronze ware in the Western Zhou Dynasty. Its shape, decoration and casting technology integrate painting, sculpture, plastic arts and arts and crafts. It looks majestic - with the strength, ruggedness and vitality of the original era of the nation.
