"Lv Fu Jia" Bronze Zun

"Lv Fu Jia" Bronze Zun

Western Zhou Dynasty (11th century BC - 771 BC)

Unearthed from Qingshanqiao cellar in Xiangtan in 1979

Height 28 cm, diameter 22.2 cm

The Zun is a wine vessel. The shape and decoration of this Zun are common features in the Central Plains. There are three characters "旅父甲" inside the vessel, which should be an artifact of the "旅" family. This vessel was unearthed in Xiangtan, and it is the only one. Among the artifacts unearthed with it, there are artifacts of the "戈" clan and other tribes. The archaeological community generally believes that it belongs to the ancient Yue people. According to the latest artifact among the unearthed artifacts, it was determined that the cellar was in the late Western Zhou Dynasty. The age of this Zun can only be from the early to late Western Zhou Dynasty. It may have been brought by people from the Central Plains, or it may have been exchanged or plundered by the ancient Yue people. In any case, this bronze Zun can prove that the Xiangjiang River Basin had exchanges with the Central Plains during the Western Zhou Dynasty.
