Chariot and horse equipment. The animal face pattern shaft guard of the Western Zhou Dynasty consists of an elliptical sleeve and a square flat cover plate. The elliptical sleeve is wide at the bottom and narrow at the top, and its cross section resembles an egg. The sleeve surface and the flat cover plate are decorated with animal face patterns, but no ground pattern. The entire artifact is well preserved and can be called a fine piece of shaft guard.
